June VDM: Renal Denervation Overview

The June issue of Vascular Disease Management will feature an important review article on renal denervation for treatment-resistant hypertension by Krishna Rocha-Singh, MD, FACC, FAHA, FSCAI, FSVM, from Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants, and Murali J. Papireddy, MD, from the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Dr. Rocha-Singh and Dr. Papireddy will describe early observations of safe and sustained reduction in systolic blood pressure as well as “collateral benefits” after transluminal application of radiofrequency energy to ablate sympathetic renal nerves. They will also address recent reports in larger patient cohorts that have suggested higher than initially reported nonresponder rates.

The June issue will also feature a case report of retrograde use of a re-entry catheter as an alternative for revascularization when antegrade approaches fail, clinical images of a giant abdominal aortic aneurysm, and interviews with leaders in the vascular field on research and treatment trends. See the VDM editor’s update for a full listing of articles planned for the June issue of VDM.
