April is Limb Loss Awareness Month, and 54% of those who have lost limbs in the United States lost them due to vascular disease (amputee-coalition.org). Limb salvage is a cause dear to the many vascular surgeons, interventionalists, and other vascular specialists who are readers of Vascular Disease Management. VDM has put together a collection of resources focused on treating and preventing peripheral artery disease and saving patients from amputation. Here we highlight several videos featuring interviews with experts on vascular therapies for critical limb ischemia and treating artery disease in the limbs.

The Amputee Coalition is a nonprofit organization that is seeking a Presidential proclamation that would officially declare April as Limb Loss Awareness Month for the United States. The organization champions those who have lost limbs, and advocates on issues like insurance coverage for prosthetic limbs on Capitol Hill.
